Summer Sights

Well, the summer is over half over and what have I to show for it? Some pictures! We've had lots of fun so far. Isaac has grown by leaps and bounds and we're so excited to witness all of the milestones he reaches.

Our first adventure was visiting Jenny, Tanner & Gwen Allred in their new home in Calgary. We went for a walk around the massive homes downtown by the Elbow River. This is Mark and my's favorite past time because we love fantasizing about building a home and what it would look like. We go on "home shows" on most of our dates. We even did it on my birthday! After our "home show" with the Allreds, we had a great time trying to blow up an air mattress with a blow dryer taped to the inflating hole.

Mark is the Scout Leader in our ward and this year he took the Scouts on a Stake Scout Camp (try saying that fast!). While he was gone over the long weekend in July, I went to the Canada Day festivities with my family. We went to Sylvan Lake and had a real BBQ on the beach like those Asian families you're usually jealous of. It was cold, but Isaac got to put his feet in the water. He also met some real Mounties! After a very exciting day, Isaac fell asleep during the concert at Bower Ponds and missed the fireworks. Well, there's always next year!

One ofIsaac's buddies is Camilla Stannix. I'm sure they're destined to be together...if their dads have anything to do with it! She turned 1 in July and we celebrated her birthday with her family. It was a little rainy, but we did take the chance to take a dip in the hot tub while dodging water balloons.

A couple months ago we bought a new sectional sofa and bedroom set at Leons (that's a huge story itself!!). We painted the family room and put on baseboards before the furniture came. While we were in Calgary visiting the Allreds, we got an INCREDIBLE deal on some discontinued ceiling tile and forced 7 boxes of tiles into our little car. Mark didn't think it was possible, but we did it after about 20 min of pushing & pulling and moving & shaking. We finally finished re-doing the suspended ceiling and installing the new tiles & pot lights. (I love being married to an Electrician!) We are just waiting on 4 wall sconces for either side of the TV & sofa!

Before After

Our family travelled to Lethbridge for the 1st Maegaard Reunion, Marks mothers family. We stayed at the Hironakas home and enjoyed the sunshine (FINALLY!) and went rafting down the St. Mary's River near Cardston. Clayton thought I was hardcore because I took Isaac on the raft. It was really fun, and I wasn't too worried about it. He had his own baby life jacket and I had him in a snugglie so he couldn't fall in. Isaac did great! He fell asleep near the end when we were taking the boat out of the water just as the sun was setting. At the reunion, Isaac met his great grandfather for the 1st time.

After our rafting tripFour Generations
Mark worked on a house in the town of Langdon, which is just east of Calgary, so for a couple days we stayed at the Allred's house so he didn't have to commute so long. Isaac got to have some bonding time with Gwen and it was there that he crawled for the 1st time. They are still learning how to be nice to each other and not steal each other's soothers or hit/scratch one another.
So that's it! Stay tuned for more summer adventures of the Ellingson Army of 3!
